West Highland Terriers are the most fantastic little dogs. We had one who lived for 16years but died recently and is sadly missed, so much so that we haven't got another yet. He was called Toto, yes you guessed it, we named him after Dorothy's dog in the Wizard of Oz.

People say that terriers become ill tempered as they grow older and can be a little snappy. Well I can assure you nothing could be further from the truth. It's the owners character that is reflected in the dog right?

Toto was very loving, full of fun and retained all of his puppy like qualities right up until the end. He was so smart and affectionate, if you said the word "cuddle" he would jump on your lap and snuggle his head against your shoulder. Even when he couldn't quite jump because of his age, all you would have to do was mention the word and he'd stroll over to be lifted up for his cuddle. If he heard the ice cream vendor's truck he would howl until he got an ice cream. I could go on all day about him, he was simply the best. One day we will have another "Westie" but we know we can never replace Toto, he was so special.

If you're considering a West Highland Terrier we highly recommend the breed as there is no better little dog. If you are looking for great information on them I really recommend you click here.
